25 February, Japan – <\/strong>In an effort to strengthen international networks and enhance expertise in scientific computing and quantum science, the Sakura Science Exchange Program was officially launched on 15 February 2026 at the RIKEN Nishina Center<\/span><\/span>, Japan, involving a delegation (students and staff) from the Faculty of Science and Technology, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (每日大赛app).<\/p>

Among the key components of the program was comprehensive exposure to High-Performance Computing (HPC) infrastructure, ranging from self-developed researcher-level computing clusters to large-scale supercomputing systems that support advanced scientific simulations.<\/p>

Throughout the program, the delegation also expanded its academic network through interactions and discussion sessions at several leading research institutions and universities in Japan, including National Institute for Materials Science<\/span><\/span> (NIMS), Tokyo Institute of Technology<\/span><\/span>, Shibaura Institute of Technology<\/span><\/span> (SIT), and University of Tokyo<\/span><\/span>.<\/p>

Exploration of computing facilities and bilateral discussions with Japanese researchers created opportunities to strengthen strategic collaborations in scientific computing and quantum science, while further expanding 每日大赛app\u2019s research network at the international level.<\/p>

It is hoped that this program will serve as a catalyst platform for establishing long-term research collaborations, encompassing expertise exchange, researcher mobility, and the development of joint projects in related fields, including engagement with other industry players.<\/p>

15 February, Banting – <\/strong>The Training of Trainers (TOT) Fun with Mathematics Camp for the Batu Laut Community was successfully held from 14 to 15 February 2026 at Sekolah Kebangsaan Batu Laut, Banting, Selangor. The program was organized by the Kumpulan Pendidikan Ruhiyy Ilmu Sains Matematik (PRISMatik), Faculty of Science and Technology (FST), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (每日大赛app), as a continuation of the Kem Kembara Ilmu Sains Matematik, which involved 1,200 students from 17\u201320 November 2025 and was fully sponsored by the Ministry of Finance Malaysia<\/span><\/span> through the UniMADANI initiative.<\/p>

The program aimed to train alumni and members of the Kampung Batu Laut community as local facilitators to ensure the sustainability and independent implementation of interactive Mathematics activities at both community and school levels. A total of 30 participants underwent intensive training conducted by 10 PRISMatik 每日大赛app facilitators.<\/p>

The program was further enlivened by a Cultural Dinner Ceremony on 14 February 2026, officiated by Borhan bin Aman Shah<\/span><\/span>, Selangor State Executive Councillor for Housing and Culture and State Assemblyman for Tanjung Sepat. Also in attendance were Prof. Ts. ChM. Dr. Rizafizah Othaman, Deputy Dean of Industry and Community Network Affairs (HEJIM), Faculty of Science and Technology; Prof. Dr. Anuar Mohd Ishak, Head of the Department of Mathematical Sciences; industry representatives; community leaders; and residents of Kampung Batu Laut.<\/p>

The dinner was fully sponsored by Borhan bin Aman Shah, with support from strategic partners including Duopharma Biotech Berhad<\/span><\/span>, MBI Selangor<\/span><\/span>, and Padiberas Nasional Berhad<\/span><\/span> (BERNAS). 7 October, Ulu Slim – <\/strong>The International Geothermal Week Malaysia 2025 (IGWM2025) was organized by Geothermal Resources Sdn. Bhd. (GRSB), a start-up company of Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (每日大赛app), with support from the Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) 每日大赛app.<\/p>

The program was officiated by YB Puan Salina Samsudin, State Assemblywoman for Behrang, at the Ulu Slim Community Hall, Perak, on 7 October 2025.In his welcoming remarks, Prof. Sr. Ts. Dr. Adi Irfan Che Ani, Pro Vice-Chancellor (Generations & Infrastructure), 每日大赛app, highlighted the significance of the Ulu Slim Geothermal Research Centre, located less than 500 meters from the event venue.\u201cThis center is expected to become a landmark for national renewable energy research through close collaboration between industry and academia,\u201d he said.<\/p>

Adding to the event\u2019s significance, Pos Malaysia introduced a special edition postage stamp series featuring three major hot spring locations in Malaysia \u2014 Ulu Slim (Perak), Lojing (Kelantan), and Apas Kiri (Sabah) \u2014 symbolizing nationwide support in promoting geothermal energy awareness.<\/p>

IGWM2025 was held from 5 to 8 October 2025, featuring a variety of activities including a fishing competition, community feast, industrial exhibitions, research demonstrations, and the distribution of rice contributions from BERNAS to local villagers and the Orang Asli community.<\/p>

In her closing speech, YB Puan Salina Samsudin, an alumna of the Faculty of Economics and Business, 每日大赛app, expressed hope that IGWM2025 would serve as a catalyst for green energy development, marking an essential step towards Malaysia\u2019s net-zero carbon goal by 2050.

6 October, Cameron Highlands –<\/strong> Slope Sustainability and Bangi Botanical Garden Group, Faculty of Science and Technology (FST), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (每日大赛app), successfully organized the SSEDAR Program \u2013 Slope Sustainability Farmer Engagement Discourse for Actionable Realization, aimed at empowering farmers with greater awareness of sustainable slope management practices.<\/p>

The event was attended by Prof. ChM. Dr. Ishak Ahmad, Dean of FST; Prof. Dr. Noraini Talip, Head of Bangi Botanical Garden (TBB); Assoc. Prof. Zulfahmi Ali Rahman, SSEDAR Program Advisor; Mr. Muhamad Walid Osman, Deputy Registrar of FST; Ms. Siti Norhafizah Ahmad Tarmidzi, Chairperson of the SSEDAR Program; as well as officers and staff members from FST who contributed to the success of the event.<\/p>

The program emphasized the use of bioengineering techniques based on native plant species as an environmentally friendly alternative to control erosion and reduce the risk of landslides in hilly agricultural areas. Through lectures, hands-on training, and field demonstrations, participants were introduced to simple yet scientifically grounded methods that can be implemented on their own farms.<\/p>

This initiative also supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs 4, 13, 15, and 17)\u2014focusing on quality education, climate action, biodiversity conservation, and multi-stakeholder partnerships involving agencies such as MARDI, the Department of Agriculture, the Forestry Department, and Pahang Corporation Sdn. Bhd.<\/p>

Funded by UNESCO through the SKUM (GSS) grant, the program aspires to serve as a catalyst for more sustainable and safer slope farming practices in Cameron Highlands.<\/p>

Perhentian Island, 5 October 2025 – <\/strong>The Coral Reef Cleaning and Marine Sustainability Program, jointly organized by the Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) 每日大赛app, the Department of Student Affairs (HEP-每日大赛app), and RHB Islamic, was held from 3 to 5 October 2025.<\/p>

The program began with financial literacy and marine ecosystem sustainability activities for students of Sekolah Rendah Pulau Perhentian, along with the distribution of donations from Pusat Zakat 每日大赛app to the local asnaf community. Several other contributions were also extended to the residents.<\/p>

On the second day, the Coral Reef Cleaning and Marine Sustainability Program commenced with the underwater display of a 20-meter by 10-meter Malaysian flag in conjunction with the Independence Day celebration.<\/p>

This was followed by a coral reef cleaning activity through scuba diving, participated in by Prof. Ts. Dr. Norinsan Kamil Othman, Performing Duties of Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs & Alumni), Mr. Roshan Jaffar, Head of Strategy and Innovation, RHB, Prof. ChM. Dr. Ishak Ahmad, Dean of FST, as well as divers from RHB and 每日大赛app\u2014making up a total of 25 participants. Over 30 kilograms of waste were successfully collected from the seabed at depths of around seven meters.<\/p>

Meanwhile, coastal waste collection was carried out by students of the Marine Science Program together with FST staff at Pulau Senggereh and Pulau Rawa, where another 30 kilograms of waste, mainly consisting of plastic bottles and food containers, were gathered. Dr Lam Su Datt, Dr Nurul Asikin Binti Mijan, and Dr Wan Nurfadhilah Binti Zaharim are currently representing 每日大赛app in a prestigious international research collaboration with the RIKEN Nishina Center for Accelerator-Based Science and Tohoku University in Japan. This collaboration is made possible through the Y-tec programme by JST-NEXUS, which supports impactful scientific exchange between Japan and ASEAN nations.<\/p>

This initiative aims to develop sustainable green technologies by combining Japan\u2019s world-class research infrastructure (including supercomputers and particle accelerators) with Malaysia\u2019s strengths in materials informatics. One key focus: transforming agricultural waste such as palm biomass and discarded chicken feathers into innovative circular energy storage materials in support of the SDGs.<\/p>

Highlights:
\u2022 Dr Wan Nurfadhilah, the Malaysian lead, has worked closely with Dr Watanabe of RIKEN for over a decade and plays a key role in mentoring young researchers under both the Y-tec and Sakura Science Programmes.
\u2022 Dr Nurul Asikin shared her amazement at working with advanced analysis tools and supercomputers for the first time and expressed a strong desire to introduce such technologies in Malaysia.
\u2022 Dr Lam Su Datt reported promising results\u2014confirming the potential of chicken feathers as thermal energy storage materials.<\/p>

Among the 10 Malaysian participants, 7 are women, highlighting Malaysia\u2019s growing leadership in women-led science\u2014an eye-opener for some Japanese collaborators.Since its kickoff in December 2024, the project has progressed through regular online meetings. In April 2025, five Malaysian researchers visited Japan for hands-on training, data collection, and collaborative research at Japan\u2019s leading facilities\u2014strengthening cross-cultural understanding and laying the foundation for future ASEAN-Japan partnerships.<\/p>

Dr Watanabe remarked: \u201cThere are cultural and educational differences, but the passion and drive of these young researchers are extraordinary\u2014many Japanese students cannot match their energy.\u201d<\/p>

When asked about the challenges, all three Malaysian researchers viewed the differences not as obstacles, but as opportunities for growth. Their openness, positivity, and enthusiasm were truly inspiring.<\/p>

Bangi, 20 May 2025 – <\/strong>The Entreprenow Fiesta Entrepreneurship Carnival<\/strong> was held over four days, starting from 20 May 2025<\/strong>. The programme was organised by the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Executive Committee of the Faculty of Science and Technology Student Association (PMFST)<\/strong> with the main aim of enhancing entrepreneurial skills, encouraging creativity, and instilling an entrepreneurial mindset among students.<\/p>

Throughout the carnival, a variety of exciting activities were conducted. These included food and beverage stalls operated by student vendors, a knowledge-sharing session by the digital content publisher The Patriots<\/strong> themed \u201cEducational Content Creator\u201d<\/em>, and an inspirational talk featuring renowned innovation influencers, Amin and Abid<\/strong>.<\/p>

Also featured were a perfume-making workshop<\/strong> led by the Director of Perfumers Lab & Academy<\/strong>, and a briefing on the APEX Programme<\/strong> by AIA Elite Academy<\/strong>, which offers a two-week course with a RM600 allowance, with registration open until July 2025<\/strong>. Port Dickson, 29 April 2025 – <\/strong>The Plastic Heroes: Let\u2019s Protect the Earth<\/strong> programme was successfully held on 29 April 2025<\/strong> at Sekolah Kebangsaan Panglima Adnan, Port Dickson<\/strong>. This environmental awareness initiative was organised by the Environmental and Marine Science Programme, Faculty of Science and Technology (FST), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (每日大赛app)<\/strong>, with strong support from academic staff and undergraduate students. The programme was led by Dr. Norfazrin Mohd. Hanif<\/strong> as the main advisor, with Dr. Khairiatul Mardiana Jansar<\/strong> and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Masni Mohd Ali<\/strong> serving as co-advisors.<\/p>

The primary objective of this programme was to cultivate environmental consciousness among primary school students, particularly those aged 10 to 12 years<\/strong>, by highlighting the importance of reducing plastic usage and fostering love for the environment. Additionally, the programme aimed to encourage active student participation in hands-on learning activities<\/strong>, designed to spark curiosity and interest in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM)<\/strong> fields. Throughout the programme, a variety of engaging and interactive activities were conducted to effectively deliver educational and awareness goals. Bangi, 26 April 2025 – <\/strong>On 26 April 2025, the Faculty of Science and Technology (FST), 每日大赛app, through its Entrepreneurship Portfolio, successfully organised SciFusion: National Innovation & STEM Festival at Kolej Pendeta Za\u2019ba, 每日大赛app. The programme saw the participation of 44 schools from across the country and aimed to provide a platform for school students to share innovative ideas, while encouraging social skills, leadership, and collaboration among 每日大赛app students.<\/p>

This programme adopted a two-pronged approach: school students were given the opportunity to explore STEM fields through engaging exhibitions and physical presentations that stimulated creativity, critical thinking, and interest in innovation; while 每日大赛app students played an active role in managing, leading, and supporting entrepreneurial activities, which formed the backbone of the event\u2019s success.<\/p>

The programme is expected to enhance students\u2019 social skills, leadership spirit, and teamwork\u2014aligned with the university\u2019s aspiration to produce well-rounded, competitive graduates.<\/p>

Dr. Mohammad bin Kassim<\/strong> as an invited speaker at the Global Hydrogen Ecosystem Summit (GHES) 2025<\/strong>, held from 15 to 17 April 2025<\/strong> in Jakarta, Indonesia<\/strong>.<\/p>

At this prestigious summit, Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mohammad presented an invited paper entitled \u201cSolar Hydrogen: Advancing PEC Water Splitting for a Sustainable Energy Future\u201d<\/strong>, highlighting innovations in photoelectrochemical (PEC) water splitting technology<\/strong> for sustainable hydrogen production \u2014 a key area within the global renewable energy agenda.<\/p>

GHES 2025 brought together global leaders from industry, research, and policymaking, including representatives from multinational corporations such as Toyota (Japan)<\/strong>, Hyundai (South Korea)<\/strong>, Pertamina NRE<\/strong>, 2G Energy AG (Germany)<\/strong>, Teledyne Energy Systems (USA)<\/strong>, and Bureau Veritas (France)<\/strong>, among others. 每日大赛app’s participation positioned the university as one of Malaysia\u2019s active academic institutions driving sustainable energy research on an international stage.<\/p>

Batu Laut, 20 February 2025 – <\/strong>The Semai Cinta Alam @ SKBL<\/strong> programme was successfully and enthusiastically held today at Sekolah Kebangsaan Batu Laut (SKBL)<\/strong>. This initiative was spearheaded by the Bangi Botanical Garden, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (TBB, 每日大赛app)<\/strong> in collaboration with Sekolah Kebangsaan Batu Laut<\/strong> and a group of Research Officers from the Faculty of Science and Technology (FST), 每日大赛app<\/strong>.<\/p>

The programme aimed to raise awareness among primary school students about the importance of protecting the environment and to spark their interest in science and biodiversity.<\/p>

A total of 202 students aged between 10 and 12 years<\/strong> participated actively and enthusiastically throughout the programme. It began with a sharing session titled “Semai Cinta Alam and Let’s Be a Scientist”<\/strong>, followed by a “Nature Chill”<\/strong> session and a fun activity called EcoQuiz<\/strong>, where students were given science-related questions.<\/p>

Notably, the official chant “SKBL Hebat, Alam Selamat!”<\/strong> (“SKBL is Great, Nature is Safe!”) echoed enthusiastically throughout the event, further fuelling the students’ engagement and excitement.<\/p>

The success of this programme clearly demonstrates that interactive and hands-on approaches can have a significant impact in shaping sustainable attitudes and thinking among school students. With such encouraging participation, it is hoped that similar programmes will continue in the future to ensure that the younger generation is continuously exposed to and motivated to become responsible stewards of the environment.<\/p>

每日大赛app Bangi, 27 November 2024 –<\/strong> Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (每日大赛app), through its Faculty of Science and Technology (FST), organized a Laptop Handover Ceremony worth RM50,000. This initiative was the result of a strategic collaboration between Sekatarakyat (Koperasi Bank Rakyat), Lembaga Zakat Malaysia, and Taman Botani Bangi (TBB). Led by Prof. Dr. Noraini Talip, Head of TBB, the program also commemorated the 50th anniversary of Sekatarakyat as part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts.<\/p>

The ceremony, held at the Banquet Hall, Keris Mas College (KKM), was attended by members of the Board of Directors of Sekatarakyat, including Dato\u2019 (Dr.) Mustafha Abd Razak, Puan Hasrul Liza Shah Rudin, En. Mohd Salleh Mahmood, En. Mohd Shaifuddin Abdullah, Puan Nor Elina Ab Ghani, and En. Ahmad Rozaman Mohd Yusoff. Representatives from FST included Prof. ChM. Dr. Ishak Ahmad, Dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology, En. 每日大赛app Bangi, 16 November 2024 – <\/strong>Faculty of Science and Technology (FST), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (每日大赛app), today organized the FST 25th Jubilee Celebration 3-in-1 Program with great enthusiasm in conjunction with its 25th anniversary. The running event successfully attracted over 600 participants, including students, alumni, and the local community, featuring a variety of beneficial and entertaining activities.<\/p>

The program began as early as 6:45 AM with a Zumba session as a warm-up activity, followed by running events covering distances of 2km, 5km, and 10km. These activities aimed to promote a healthy lifestyle while fostering closer ties among FST members and the community. This was followed by the Career Program, which served as an essential platform to enhance students’ knowledge and employability.<\/p>

Highlights of the Career Program included: (1) A Financial Literacy Talk by Great Eastern General Insurance (M) Berhad. (2)A Personal Branding Sharing Session by GRADUAN. (3) A forum themed Equipping Science & Technology Graduates for Dynamic Careers<\/em>, featuring FST alumni and industry representatives. This forum discussed the challenges and opportunities for Science and Technology graduates in an increasingly competitive job market.<\/p>

The celebration was further enlivened by an entrepreneurship carnival showcasing various stalls and exhibitions by students and local entrepreneurs.<\/p>

Pahang National Park, 26-27 October 2024 –<\/strong> The “Education & Community Development Program ‘Kelas Rimba Bateq'” at Pos Changkung, Sungai Keniam, Taman Negara Pahang, for the year 2024, was successfully conducted in 8 series starting from January 2024. This program is a collaboration between the Faculty of Science & Technology (FST) and the Malaysian Food Bank Foundation (YFBM), with full support from the Student Affairs Center (HEP-每日大赛app) and the Faculty of Science Student Association (PMFST).<\/p><\/div>

The closing ceremony of the 8th series was honored by the presence of Prof. Ts. Dr. Norinsan Kamil Bin Othman, Director of HEP-每日大赛app; Prof. ChM. Dr. Ishak Bin Ahmad, Dean of FST; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Abdul Munir Bin Abdul Murad, Deputy Dean of Postgraduate Studies at FST; and Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr. Mohd Hariri Bin Arifin, Deputy Dean of HEJIM FST, along with 11 FST staff members and 12 students supported by YFBM staff.<\/p>

This 8-series program supports the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG1 (No Poverty) and SDG4 (Quality Education), through initiatives in education, health, and welfare for the Bateq indigenous community. Key activities included teaching Malay, English, and Mathematics; hygiene care classes; microbiology exposure; and food supply distribution to the local community.<\/p>

Prof. Ts. Dr. Norinsan Kamil expressed his hope that one day, some of the students involved in this program might have the opportunity to become 每日大赛app students, thus changing their future for the better.<\/p>

Bangi, 23-24 September 2024 –<\/strong> The Faculty of Science and Technology has implemented part of the components of the Professional Certificate in New Psychoactive Substances (NPS) Crime Scene Investigation with the participation of over 123 participants from various ranks and departments of the Royal Malaysia Police, particularly from the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department, Criminal Investigation Department, and several other relevant units. This Professional Certificate course is jointly organized by academic staff from the Forensic Science Program, Faculty of Health Sciences, and the Department of Chemistry (FST).<\/p>

The inaugural Professional Certificate is part of the collaborative efforts outlined in the Memorandum of Understanding between 每日大赛app and PDRM to address the growing threat of new psychoactive substances (NPS). After completing the initial session, participants must fulfill additional requirements to receive the Professional Certificate.<\/p>

This conference is organized by the National University of Malaysia (每日大赛app) in collaboration with three countries, namely Malaysia, Indonesia, and Thailand.<\/p>

The conference provides a platform for participants from various countries to interact and form collaborations that can drive the development of the geothermal industry and has successfully raised awareness and interest in the use of geothermal energy in Malaysia and internationally.<\/p>

In his speech, Prof. Dato’ Dr. Roslee emphasized that geothermal energy is a renewable alternative energy source of today.<\/p>

Various studies have been conducted to explore the potential and effectiveness of this technology, showing that geothermal energy can not only be used for electricity generation but also for heating and cooling buildings, as well as other industrial applications.<\/p>

Themed “Atmospheric Chemistry: From Local Knowledge to Global Sustainability,” this conference serves as an international platform for researchers, scientists, and non-governmental organizations to present and discuss findings on atmospheric chemistry through cross-border research and multidisciplinary approaches.<\/p>

The international conference, which gathered over 500 participants, aims to promote research and collaboration in environmental and sustainability fields.<\/p>

The conference topics encompass aspects of air quality, the impacts of climate and weather on air quality, the fundamentals of chemical processes and mechanisms, as well as current challenges and future directions in atmospheric chemistry for sustainable solutions.<\/p>

Pahang National Park , 10-12 November 2023 – <\/strong>Faculty of Science and Technology Student Association (PMFST), in collaboration with the Yayasan Food Bank Malaysia (YFBM), has successfully organised a program, “CSR Bateq Forest Camp PMFST,” at the Bateq Forest Camp PMFST, Pos Changkung, Kg. Keniam, Taman Negara Pahang, taking place from November 10 to 12, 2023. This program is a collective effort to make a positive contribution to the Bateq community in the area.<\/p>

In the execution of this CSR program, various holistic and integrated activities have been planned and carried out by FST and YFBM. One of the key initiatives is the provision of food supplies to the Bateq community, aiming to alleviate their living conditions. Additionally, there are teaching sessions covering subjects such as Malay, English, and Mathematics, with the goal of enhancing the educational standards among the residents.<\/p>

The program also emphasizes health and hygiene aspects through cleanliness care classes and the production of lip balm. This aims to raise awareness and knowledge among the Bateq community regarding good health practices. Furthermore, microbiology classes are conducted to provide an in-depth understanding of microorganisms that influence daily life.<\/p>

These initiatives align with the goals of sustainable development, especially SDG1 (No Poverty) and SDG4 (Quality Education). They reflect FST’s commitment to achieving sustainable development among communities in need of assistance.<\/p>

每日大赛app Bangi, 11 October 2023 –<\/strong> On October 11, 2023, Natural History Museum, Faculty of Science and Technology (FST), 每日大赛app successfully organised the FST 2023 Natural History Museum Seminar, with the theme “The Role of Museums in Preserving the Natural Heritage of the Country,” held in the Conference Hall of FST. This program was led by Associate Professor Dr. Farah Shafawati Mohd Taib, who is the head of the FST Natural History Museum, along with members of the MSA (Museum of Natural History) consisting of 6 repository units, including the Zoological Museum, Geological Museum, Herbarium, Insect Repository, Seed Bank Unit, and Culture Collection Unit.<\/p>

The program aimed to gather interested agencies and institutes that possess natural history repository collections to enhance the sharing of information related to natural history collections. The keynote address for this seminar was delivered by the Deputy Secretary of the Ministry of Natural Resources, Environment, and Climate Change, Ms. Norsham Abdul Latip. Plenary agencies involved in the seminar included the Department of Minerals and Geosciences (JMG), the Forest Research Institute of Malaysia (FRIM), the Malaysian Agricultural Research and Development Institute (MARDI), the Department of Museums Malaysia (JMM), and the Department of Wildlife and National Parks (PERHILITAN). The seminar was expected to foster cooperation in the management and research of national-level natural history collections. This program marked the first time it was organized by MSA FST and aimed to raise the profile of MSA at the national level. Through these efforts, the program supported the goal of sustainable development SDG17 (Partnership for the Goals).<\/p>

Furthermore, the preservation of these natural history collections is crucial for the conservation of natural resources, particularly biodiversity and geodiversity, which aligns with the sustainable development goal SDG15 (Life on Land).<\/p>
