Ensuring laboratory safety in universities and research institutions is thus critical. Based on the knowledge, attitude, and practice model, this study examines how student knowledge, attitude, awareness, and organizational commitment impact the effectiveness of laboratory and workshop risk management. Survey data was collected from 251 engineering students from four southern Malaysian polytechnics and analyzed using partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM). The findings reveal that knowledge, awareness, and organizational commitment significantly enhance risk management effectiveness, while attitude has no effect. These results emphasize the need for institutions to improve students’ risk management knowledge and awareness to fortify safety measures and risk management strategies against hazards on campus or in the community.

Understanding User Characteristics as Antecedents of Technostress towards HRMIS: A Mixed-Method Study /jurnalpengurusan/article/understanding-user-characteristics-as-antecedents-of-technostress-towards-hrmis-a-mixed-method-study/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=understanding-user-characteristics-as-antecedents-of-technostress-towards-hrmis-a-mixed-method-study Wed, 12 Oct 2022 04:38:08 +0000 /jurnalpengurusan/?post_type=article&p=5807 This study aims to explore the effects of user characteristics as antecedents of technostress towards human resource management information system (HRMIS) in government agencies of Malaysia. To address the research objective, we conducted an exploratory mixed-method study which involved both the semi-structured interviews with HRMIS experts from three state governments of Malaysia and the survey questionnaire of HRMIS end-users. Findings from the content analysis of the interview data have identified three key characteristics of users, namely, attitude, technology readiness, and readiness for change, and have suggested that these characteristics are relevant antecedents of technostress. The PLS analysis from the quantitative survey results have revealed that the experiences of technostress towards HRMIS can be influenced only by user’s attitude. From the theoretical aspects and practical implications, this study provides the researchers insights and understanding of the phenomena for future exploratory studies and valuable guidance for the practitioners to manage strains associated with technostress both in the public and the private sectors. More importantly, this study has not only provided new empirical evidence that extends the generalizability of previous findings particularly on technostress and job outcomes but also different from previous studies in the field of information system by examining the antecedents of technostress in the context of human resource information system (HRIS).

Perceptions on Renewable Energy Use in Malaysia: Mediating Role of Attitude /jurnalpengurusan/article/perceptions-on-renewable-energy-use-in-malaysia-mediating-role-of-attitude/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=perceptions-on-renewable-energy-use-in-malaysia-mediating-role-of-attitude Sun, 09 Oct 2022 05:49:18 +0000 /jurnalpengurusan/?post_type=article&p=4211 This study investigates the perception towards renewable energy use in Malaysia. A survey of in the Klang-valley area yield responses from 200 respondents. Then, the data were analysed using exploratory factor analysis and multiple regression analysis. Five factors emerge from the factor analysis namely relative advantage, perceived behavioural control, ease of use, awareness, and benefit-cost trade-off. Multiple regression analysis is conducted to examine the explanatory power of these five factors in predicting the intention to use renewable energy. Results of the analysis show that 1) relative advantage and perceived behavioural controls positively mediate attitude towards renewable energy and 2) attitude positively mediates intention to use renewable energy. However, ease of use, benefit-cost trade-off and awareness positively but directly influence intention to use renewable energy. In conclusion, this study contributes to the literatures on social barriers to renewable energy in emerging nations and on theory of planned behaviour.

To Buy or Not to Buy? Consumers’ attitudes and Purchase Behavior for Organic Food in Malaysia /jurnalpengurusan/article/to-buy-or-not-to-buy-consumers-attitudes-and-purchase-behavior-for-organic-food-in-malaysia/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=to-buy-or-not-to-buy-consumers-attitudes-and-purchase-behavior-for-organic-food-in-malaysia Sat, 08 Oct 2022 16:23:38 +0000 /jurnalpengurusan/?post_type=article&p=2808 Organic products demand is increasing due to the awareness of the health benefits and nutritional values attached to these produces. However, in Malaysia, the organic industry is relatively small with more than 60% of the organic products being imported from overseas. Given the importance of this niche sector to the agriculture sector, marketers should understand how the consumers make decisions towards organic products. This study investigated the Malaysian organic purchasers on what affects them in their buying intention. The study uses a non-probability volunteer sampling method of 455 respondents using Structural Equation Modeling- Analysis of Moment Structures (SEM-AMOS). Results showed that health consciousness and animal welfare affects purchasing behavior directly and positively. Health consciousness, taste and food safety indirectly affect purchasing behavior while animal welfare does not have the indirect effect. This study seeks to assist organic product marketer in the development of effective marketing strategies for further increase of organic product consumption.
