However, the process of managing CSR initiatives in accordance with Islamic principles has been given scarce attention in the literature. Thus, this study aims to describe and develop a managerial guideline for the process of managing CSR initiatives based on the Tawhid and Shariah paradigms. Using the case study approach, CSR key players and beneficiaries at Bank Islam Malaysia Berhad were interviewed, several series of in-field observations of these events were conducted and the CSR documentation was reviewed to better understand the processes involved. The findings of this study indicate that the processes of managing CSR initiatives at Bank Islam have become more systematic and well-planned. Hence, the proposed managerial guideline may add new insights to the CSR body of knowledge and may help business entities to manage CSR more systematically.

Determinants of Non-Reporting of Social and Environmental Information by Malaysian Companies /jurnalpengurusan/article/determinants-of-non-reporting-of-social-and-environmental-information-by-malaysian-companies/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=determinants-of-non-reporting-of-social-and-environmental-information-by-malaysian-companies Sat, 08 Oct 2022 18:26:15 +0000 /jurnalpengurusan/?post_type=article&p=3406 In Malaysia, most public companies do not provide social and environmental information in their annual reports. Given the importance of corporate social responsibility (CSR) to the sustainability of resources for future generations, this study attempts to identify the determinants of non-reporting of social and environmental information from the perspectives of proprietary costs and information costs saving. This study analyses the content of annual reports of 368 Malaysian public listed companies. The results show that proprietary cost perspective can explain the non-reporting of social and environmental information while information costs saving perspective can only partially explain the decision. It is also noted that the absence of these drivers are caused by low ethical consumerism and lack of proactive measures by the various watch dog groups in Malaysia.
