It seeks the evidence of how waqf improves the socio-economic condition of Muslims in Malaysia. Two established waqf institutions in Malaysia had been selected, namely Waqaf Annur Corporation Berhad and Perbadanan Wakaf Selangor as representatives of private and public sectors, respectively. Data was collected through interviews, data archives and document reviews. Both institutions show significant evidence of waqf contribution to religious, economic and social activities. Perbadanan Wakaf Selangor focuses on benefits to the public such as mosque management and school development, while Waqaf Annur Corporation Berhad provides funds for public utilities as well as for individuals. This paper contributes to the literature of cash waqf and also informs stakeholder that waqf is the alternative method toward societal development. Comparative studies on cash waqf between countries or between Muslim and non-Muslim endowments are encouraged for future research.

Strategies for Managing Endowment Funds: Case Studies of Selected Malaysian Public Universities /jurnalpengurusan/article/strategies-for-managing-endowment-funds-case-studies-of-selected-malaysian-public-universities/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=strategies-for-managing-endowment-funds-case-studies-of-selected-malaysian-public-universities Sun, 09 Oct 2022 07:57:22 +0000 /jurnalpengurusan/?post_type=article&p=4265 The Malaysian government has strongly encouraged Malaysia’s public universities to seek additional sources of income to assure the sustainability of their finances. Endowment is one of the sources encouraged by the government for implementation by these universities. This encouragement has received a positive response from public universities: all of them have now implemented endowment funds. However, the strategies used by these institutions in managing these funds are still poorly documented. Therefore, this study was conducted to explore the strategies used by Malaysian public universities in managing such funds. It is a qualitative study conducted by interviewing six representatives from selected public universities: Universiti Malaya (UM), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (ÿÈÕ´óÈüapp) and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM). These public universities were selected because they recorded the highest collection of endowment funds. This study found that the strategies in managing endowment funds in Malaysian public universities include diversified investment portfolios, the appointment of investment experts, Shariah-compliant investments as an alternative, and diversified income sources.

Did RSPO Overlook the Unwelcome Thoughts Amongst Growers and Millers? /jurnalpengurusan/article/did-rspo-overlook-the-unwelcome-thoughts-amongst-growers-and-millers/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=did-rspo-overlook-the-unwelcome-thoughts-amongst-growers-and-millers Sat, 08 Oct 2022 17:14:29 +0000 /jurnalpengurusan/?post_type=article&p=3224 This study examined the relationship between knowledge, past experience and personal value of growers and millers intention to adopt the RSPO. This study applied the theory of Planned Behaviour (TPB) to test the proposed relationship. This research applies a quantitative approach that uses a cross-sectional questionnaire survey in order to test the proposed hypotheses. A total of 122 palm oil companies in Sabah, Malaysia were identified and collected data were analysed using the partial least squares and structural equation modelling. The findings of this study confirmed the Theory of Planned Behaviour as a great predictor of behavioural intention. In addition, knowledge, past experience and personal value were also found to have significant relationship and this resulted into the conclusion that knowledge, past experience and personal value positively influence the attitude amongst growers and millers towards RSPO. The result of this study has proven that the TPB model is a valuable, practical and has a high potential to predict human behavioural intention.

Pengurusan Kontrak Melalui Teori Remedi /jurnalpengurusan/article/pengurusan-kontrak-melalui-teori-remedi/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=pengurusan-kontrak-melalui-teori-remedi Sat, 08 Oct 2022 14:03:35 +0000 /jurnalpengurusan/?post_type=article&p=2787 Management of contract based on contract law is bound by the contents of the contract in providing protection to the contracting parties. Parties to the contract merely relied on the contents of the contract to fulfil their obligations as agreed. The problem arises when there is a breach of contract. The contracting parties are bound by what they have agreed in order to claim damages although contract law does provide remedies for breach of contract. However, the aggrieved party will not often get the remedies as desired. Consequently, remedies have therefore fail to function in protecting the interest of the aggrieved party. The empirical analysis in this article shows that contract law is not a champion for consumers’ choice of remedies. Hence, this article adopts the pure doctrinal method, using historical, jurisprudential and analytical and critical approaches in analysing the management of contract through theories of remedy to ensure protection of remedial rights among the contracting parties. This article focuses on theories of remedy in providing remedial rights to the contracting parties.
