Therefore, strategic actions are required to accelerate the growth of SMEs in the post-pandemic era. Based on the Dynamic Capabilities Theory, the aim of this study was to analyze the effect of financial technology, innovation, business strategy, and market orientation on the business performance of SMEs in Riau Province, Indonesia. Using purposive sampling, survey data was collected from a sample of 123 SME owner-managers. Data analysis using partial least squares structural equation modeling showed that financial technology, innovation, business strategy, and market orientation significantly affect the business performance of SMEs.Ìý SME owner-managers use financial technology to make new breakthroughs through innovation, implement more diverse business strategies, and improve market orientation.ÌýThe findings suggest that long-term digital technology development strategies are required as a platform for SMEs to grow.

New emerging customer segments have higher expectation where Takaful operators need more innovative approaches in acquiring and retaining customers. Moreover, Takaful companies need to apply marketing, societal and entrepreneurial concept to make the industry more competitive. Although many Islamic banking and Takaful studies have been conducted, empirical Takaful research is still limited. Therefore, the primary focus of this study is to empirically investigate the influence of market orientation and corporate social responsibility (cSR) towards Takaful agencies’ organizational performance in Malaysia. The first phase of the study involved refinement of cSR measurement items by performing exploratory factor analysis (EFA), where a new dimension was identified. The second phase of study was to test the hypotheses by employing all items adopted from past studies including the refined cSR measures. PLS-SEM analysis involving a two-step approach on 211 valid data shows co-adoption of cSR and market orientation influences organizational performance.

(2) What is the relationship between market orientation and entrepreneurial learning intensity?; and (3) To what extent could entrepreneurial learning intensity enhance the relationship of market orientation – entrepreneurial success? Drawing on marketing and learning literature, we proposed that market orientation and entrepreneurial learning intensity influence entrepreneurial success. Based on resource-advantage theory, we believed that market orientation and entrepreneurial learning intensity are complementary resources in enhancing the capability of firms to gain competitive advantage. Through a simple mediation analysis, we posited that market orientation positively impact entrepreneurial success through entrepreneurial learning intensity. Based on data collected, by using questionnaire survey involving 125 owners of established small and medium-sized service enterprises around Malaysia, findings confirmed that market orientation, entrepreneurial learning intensity and entrepreneurial success are significantly related. Entrepreneurial learning intensity partially mediated the relationship between market orientation and entrepreneurial success. Lastly, discussion and implications of the research findings are provided in understanding the scenario of entrepreneurial success of small and medium-sized service enterprises in Malaysia.
