This study thus provides a comprehensive review of the literature on rural entrepreneurs’ business survival, identifying key influencing factors, research gaps and future research directions. Using the PRISMA guidelines, a systematic literature review was conducted on 55 peer-reviewed journal articles published between 2020 and 2024 in the Web of Science, EBSCO and Scopus databases. The findings indicate that most studies have concentrated on developing countries and depended on singular theoretical frameworks, with some neglecting theory altogether. As such, there is a noticeable lack of consistent theoretical grounding in the literature. Although the concepts of human capital, financial literacy and social networks have received attention in relation to rural entrepreneurs’ survival, newer themes such as psychological capital, digitalisation and sustainability are beginning to gain ground. By synthesising these insights, this study not only offers a more coherent conceptual structure of rural entrepreneurs’ business survival but also sets the stage for future research to adopt multi-theory and cross-country approaches. It also provides practical insights that support policymakers and practitioners in developing targeted strategies to ensure the survival of rural entrepreneurship.

Entrepreneurial Leadership Style During the COVID-19 Pandemic: A Systematic Literature Review /jurnalpengurusan/article/entrepreneurial-leadership-style-during-the-covid-19-pandemic-a-systematic-literature-review/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=entrepreneurial-leadership-style-during-the-covid-19-pandemic-a-systematic-literature-review Wed, 28 Aug 2024 07:36:34 +0000 /jurnalpengurusan/?post_type=article&p=7402 The COVID-19 pandemic has underscored the urgent requirement for efficient leadership in both traditional workplaces and entrepreneurial enterprises. Despite previous research suggesting various leadership styles to alleviate work-related stress, limited research has investigated the leadership style adopted by entrepreneurs during the COVID-19 pandemic. This SLR identifies various leadership styles, including open leadership, transformational, transactional, responsible, and inclusive leadership, among others. However, the most appropriate leadership style largely depends on the situation at hand. This study’s systematic literature review followed the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis (PRISMA) guideline. It studied data from Scopus and Web of Science from 2020 to 2023. Initially identifying 186 articles, the investigation concluded with 22 articles that provided a full assessment of trends as well as a topic overview. The review found a majority of studies using quantitative methodologies. The review also emphasizes the need for future research to investigate additional characteristics of leadership style, such as the effects of culture, demographic demographics, and organizational decision-making processes on leadership effectiveness. This review provides essential guidance for navigating leadership complexities in entrepreneurship, particularly amidst crises like the COVID-19 pandemic.

Technostress and Job Outcomes: A Systematic Literature Review /jurnalpengurusan/article/technostress-and-job-outcomes-a-systematic-literature-review/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=technostress-and-job-outcomes-a-systematic-literature-review Wed, 26 Jul 2023 07:37:49 +0000 /jurnalpengurusan/?post_type=article&p=6955 The use of technology in daily life and tasks has led to a variety of job outcomes. These were previously referred to under various terms and concepts used by past researchers. A Systematic Literature Review (SLR) was conducted and since this phenomenon is still new and in the exploratory phase, this technique will give an overview of the trend shown in past studies as related to impact on job outcomes. Data for this article were gathered from the Scopus and Web of Science databases from 1982 to 2021. Seventy articles were finalized from 269 found at the initial stage through the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) reporting method. The study has identified and combined as many as ten terms and concepts into job outcome dimensions and further developed a conceptual framework between technostress and job outcomes. The trend and combination of these dimensions will be a source of reference and guidelines for organizations to formulate intervention measures to reduce the impact of technostress on job outcomes. Meanwhile, further research is recommended to focus on the role of mediating and moderating factors that may also affect job outcomes.
