However, the organization’s unaccommodating environment and viewpoint contradicts with this nature of working, which directly and adversely affecting this group’s psychological well-being. Thus, a study on protean career orientation and career strategy implementation and their effects on the psychological well-being of the Malaysian engineers are pertinent and timely. To test the proposed hypotheses, data was collected through self-administered questionnaires. The study sample consisted of 387 engineers from various disciplines regardless of the industries. The hypotheses were analysed using the Partial Least Squares (PLS) approach. This study had found interesting results related to psychological well-being. The findings showed that protean career orientation has a positive influence on career strategy implementation. Finally, this study had found that the relationship between protean career orientation and psychological well-being are not linked through the mediating variable of career strategy implementation. Based on the findings, theoretical and practical implications of the study are discussed. The suggestion for the future research is also offered.

The Impact of Psychological Well-Being, Employability and Work-Life Balance on Organizational Mobility of Women Engineering Technology Graduate /jurnalpengurusan/article/the-impact-of-psychological-well-being-employability-and-work-life-balance-on-organizational-mobility-of-women-engineering-technology-graduate/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=the-impact-of-psychological-well-being-employability-and-work-life-balance-on-organizational-mobility-of-women-engineering-technology-graduate Fri, 07 Oct 2022 04:17:15 +0000 /jurnalpengurusan/?post_type=article&p=1788 The Government has always emphasised on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education to meet the needs of the country’s human resources in STEM fields. However, the quantity of human resources in STEM fields is quite alarming due to the deterioration in the number of students taking STEM subjects and career mobility among STEM graduates to non-STEM careers, especially female STEM graduates. Career mobility often occurs among these engineering women which has resulted in the loss of valuable human resources to the organization. Product designs produced in previous organizations will be taken to a new organization and cause the issue of product design confidentiality. This study was conducted to examine the relationship between work-life balance, employability, and psychological well-being towards inter-organizational mobility among 114 women’s engineering technology graduates who are in the industry in Malaysia. A model has been developed and tested using SEM techniques using SmartPLS software. The findings show that there is a negative relationship between psychological well-being, employability, and work-life balance towards inter-organizational mobility. The findings in this study are the influence of psychological wellbeing plays a major role in inter-organizational mobility among women technologists. In addition, low employability also contributes to the mobility of organizations among female engineering technology graduates in the industry.
