The Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in Iraq has fluctuated dramatically over the past ten years, with all sectors being affected. Since authentic leadership and job security are essential organizational variables, more studies about critical variables such as psychological well-being at the workplace are to be expected. A challenging work environment and long working hours have led to increased psychological health requirements in the modern workplace. We aim to understand how well broad variables of leadership and perceived job security are correlated with nurses’ psychological well-being. The data were collected from 250 nurses. The indirect effects were examined with the Hayes process model. According to the findings of the study, authentic leadership has an impact on the psychological well-being of nurses. Moreover, the mediator variable (perceived job security) affects psychological well-being. The results of this study support the claim and substantiate the concept of authentic leadership in healthcare, which enables nurses to have more job security and consequently improves their psychological well-being. Leaders must demonstrate authentic leadership by being confident, optimistic, hopeful, and adaptable.

Organizational-Based Resources as Determinants of Nurses’ Job Performance in Malaysia: The Mediating Role of Motivation /jurnalpengurusan/article/organizational-based-resources-as-determinants-of-nurses-job-performance-in-malaysia-the-mediating-role-of-motivation/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=organizational-based-resources-as-determinants-of-nurses-job-performance-in-malaysia-the-mediating-role-of-motivation Fri, 07 Oct 2022 02:33:46 +0000 /jurnalpengurusan/?post_type=article&p=1726 In a healthcare setting, nurses are the majority of healthcare specialists, thus making their job performance the key determinant of patient’s care quality. Given the rising number of patients being admitted to public hospitals and the increasing demands imposed by patients and their higher expectations, the need to further improve nurses’ performance and quality of service delivery becomes imperative. The Conservation of Resources (COR) theory is used to investigate the influence of human resource management methods (HRMPs), which represent organizational-based resources (in the form of participation and compensation) on nurses’ job performance (task performance and contextual performance) with motivation as the mediator. Partial Least Squares (PLS) technique was used to analyse the data collected from 354 nurses attached with Malaysian public hospitals. The results disclosed that both HRMPs have direct and positive effects on motivation. Similarly, motivation mediated the link between involvement and compensation with task and contextual performance. Similarly, motivation mediated the link between involvement and compensation with task and contextual performance. This study has offered a vital recommendation to the nurse supervisors to motivate the nurses by giving more prospects for them to engage in making decisions and participating in hospital affairs.
