It reduces energy consumption by lessening the use of artificial light during daytime. In this book, daylighting rules of thumb are reviewed and associated with lecture space parameters and criteria. This book presents modified rules of thumb for daylighting in lecture spaces in Malaysia. These rules of thumb are applicable for the overcast and intermediate sky conditions prevalent in Kuala Lumpur and Subang. Computer simulations using IES software were conducted based on the actual dimensions of lecture room samples in the Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (ÿÈÕ´óÈüapp) in order to create a simplified formula for daylighting. These simplified formulas are a series of easy equations which can be used as a set of general guide or rules of thumb for daylighting of lecture rooms in Malaysia.<\/span><\/p>\n
