Cinema Jenin follows an ambitious initiative to re-open a previously\u00a0abandoned cinema in the West Bank city of Jenin. Founded in the\u00a01960s, it was once the largest cinema in Palestine. Today it stands as a\u00a0hollow echo of its society. Re-building the cinema, Germans and\u00a0Palestinians come together evoking often comedic but always political and cultural ramifications. Cinema Jenin witnessed an intimate,\u00a0nuanced and textured view into the city and its domestic affairs as well\u00a0as the journey of a dedicated, loyal, often conflicted group of people\u00a0who hope that the re-building of the cinema will be a bridge to peace,\u00a0freedom and Palestinian self-government. Since 1994, he has been working as\u00a0a TV editor, producer and director at ARD\/ SWR in Baden-Baden and\u00a0Stuttgart, Germany. His films have received attention at national and\u00a0international film festivals and won numerous prizes, among which are\u00a03 Adolf Grimme Awards \u2013 the German Oscar and the German Academy\u00a0Award.
