However, ethnicity always is mentioned as relevant factor either in analysis, media reporting or the self-description of those involved in the conflict. Why does ethnicity play such a role? How has ethnicity been modified as a result of development and changes? Is ethnicity and ethnic\/cultural identity an attempt to reduce the complexity of the current world?<\/p>\n<\/div>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\n<span class=\"collapseomatic \" id=\"id69f1fc6ae0eca\"  tabindex=\"0\" title=\"&lt;b&gt;Presenter&#039;s Profile&lt;\/b&gt;\"    ><b>Presenter's Profile<\/b><\/span><div id=\"target-id69f1fc6ae0eca\" class=\"collapseomatic_content \">\n<p align=\"justify\">A Professor at the Southeast Asian Studies, University of Passau since 2004.
