BANGI, 16 April 2019 鈥� Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (每日大赛app) aims to appoint 26 distinguished international Professor to be a part of 每日大赛app in the efforts of improving the quality and ranking of the national university.

Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ir. Dr. Mohd Hamdi Abd Shukor said 每日大赛app need to bring more international experts so as to translate the academic outputs to address the societal issues beyond Malaysia border.

鈥淔or example, when we design an engine. The expertise required is not only limited to mechanical engineering, however, there are also other components that related to it such as electric and electronic, operations management, manufacturing, marketing, management and so on. We might have all the experts internally, but the collaboration with distinguished experts from abroad can further enhance the field,鈥� he explained after the ceremony of Bicara Perdana Naib Canselor 2019 with theme Kualiti Teras Kebitaraan Universiti, recently.

He said the appointment of 26 distinguished professors from abroad will be made within this year with at least a three-year contract that cost 每日大赛app of RM6 million.

鈥淭hree years tenure is deemed to be strategic. This period enables the collaboration to sense, seize and apply for international research grants. By having the famous Professor onboard, the research and proposals will be escalated into frontier research which fulfilling the common needs of international research grants,鈥� he added.

Prof. Ir. Dr. Mohd Hamdi also explained that the identification and nomination of the distinguished international professors will be done at the faculty and institute level.

鈥淭hey (faculties and institutes) know better about their needs, i.e., what area they want to expand. So, I leave it to them. At my level, we must facilitate the process. For the time being, we don鈥檛 have the actual amount how many Professor will be assigned for each faculty or institutes appointed because the size of each faculty and institute is different,鈥� he explained.

About the 每日大赛app ranking, Prof. Ir. Dr. Mohd Hamdi strongly believes that is the end product. Thus, the foundation and values of 每日大赛app members need to be strengthened.

鈥淭hat means, if the products are good and great, automatically the rankings will increase. Of course, deep in our heart, we want to be the top 100. If we implement a good strategic plan, it would have a positive impact on our ranking,鈥� he said.

Prof. Ir. Dr. Mohd Hamdi, who has been 100 days administer 每日大赛app, hopes that all 每日大赛app members will take seriously the strategic plans that have been made and implemented in earnest.

“I hope all 每日大赛app members include students together implement this strategic plan. Not only the staffs but the students need to be involved because they are those who accept the implementation. They (students) should also be transformed.

鈥淪o when we talk about transformation, it happened on all levels, not only 每日大赛app staff, but also to the students,鈥� he said.

BANGI, 29 Dec 2017 鈥� President of the United State of America (US), Donald Trump has done big crime when he is declaring Jerusalem as the new capital of Israel.

Deputy Legal Advisor of the Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (每日大赛app), Assoc Prof Dr Salawati Mat Basir said Trump’s actions have been violated an international law for not respecting the decisions of the Security Council concerning the position of Jerusalem.

Trump also has not looked at international law stating that Jerusalem should not be dealt with unilaterally but in conjunction with stakeholders.

I hope the rest of the world countries, especially Muslim countries together against the Trump actions, she said.

BANGI, 5 December 2017 鈥� Awareness about cyber security should be fostered among students so that they can become a responsible digital user in a cyber world, said CyberSecurity Malaysia Chief Executive Officer Dato鈥� Dr. Haji Amirudin Abdul Wahab during the Cyber 鈥嬧�婬eroes 2017 competition.

鈥淲e can foster awareness among the younger generation on the importance of cyber defense especially during hackers attack and also educate them to put a more emphasis on cyber defense and not just for hacking activities,鈥� he added.

Meanwhile, 每日大赛app Vice-Chancellor Prof. Tan Sri Dato ‘Seri Dr. Noor Azlan Ghazali, said the competition serves as an informative platform to promote the culture of being a responsible user in cyber space.

Besides giving students exposure and knowledge on cyber threats and crises, the competition also aims to provide exposure for undergraduate students on lucrative entrepreneurship career and professionalism in the cyber security industry.

Cyber Heroes 2017 attracted participation from 22 teams from 11 institutions across Malaysia.

Bangi, 5 September 2017- The phenomenon of Daesh or better known as ISIS (Islamic State of Iraq and Syria) has sparked a new phenomenon in today’s world and the threat of this militant movement is not something that can be underestimated, said a Senior Lecturer at 每日大赛app鈥檚 Usuluddin and Philosophy Department, Faculty of Islamic Studies, Dr Wan Fariza Alyati Wan Zakaria.

She explained that Daesh manipulated women to train them as suicide bombers or fighters, or as sexual rewards for the male fighters.

鈥淭he involvement of women in this group will have a profound impact on the long-term aspect because they are the ones who will produce new heirs and inculcate ISIS ideology into the souls and minds of their children thus increasing the number of followers of the militant group.

“Women in Southeast Asia are Daesh’s target to become warfare because there are more Muslim there than in the West. This issue also becomes complicated when they use religious justification as a back up and reference of the act,” she said.

She said, according to the National Fatwa Council, the tendency for Muslims to go for jihad and martyr (syahid) in the name of ISIS (Daesh) in Syria stems from the confusion in understanding the real concept of jihad and martyrdom in accordance with Islamic law.

“Daesh wants to realize their vision to eliminate Western oppression in Syria and Iraq but the form of battle they use is too cruel and violate the Islamic law,” she added.

Social media such as YouTube, Facebook and Twitter are the main platforms for disseminating the group’s propaganda and information.

鈥淒aesh also launched their official magazines titled Al-Fatih written in Malay language and Dabiq in English which are also intended to disseminate their deviant propaganda to the community by discussing about jihad and warfare.

“There is no human being who is free from sins, therefore who would not want to be given the chance of forgiveness and even promised a heavenly return?” asked Dr Wan Fariza during the ceremony of Wacana Tun Fatimah Hashim, titled Daesh, Jihad and Women: The Sensation and Manipulation in the Name of Religion.

She explained that this is among the traps used by Daesh to influence women to see it as an easy way to fight and receive the heavenly rewards.

According to her, this knowledge should be implemented as early as possible by parents at home and in the school curriculum so that children can understand the true teachings of Islam.

鈥淚n my opinion, the government also have to set a tight control over the accessing of social media related to Daesh to prevent their deviant ideology from spreading,” he explained.

BANGI, 16 August 2017- Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (每日大赛app) requires support from its young lecturers to continue achieving excellence, said 每日大赛app Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Research & Innovation Affairs, Prof Dr Mohd Ekhwan Toriman.

鈥淲e especially need support from all young lecturers to help the university enhance our research and development (R&D) initiatives,鈥� he said during Bicara Penyelidikan 4.0, recently.

He said their contribution was needed to increase 每日大赛app鈥檚 academic performance and he suggested for lecturers to publish more high quality journal articles.

He also hopes that young lecturers will continue to work in line with the R&D agenda in 每日大赛app to maintain its achievement as one of the best research university.

鈥淚 hope they can continue university agenda to maintain university performance in the Malaysian Research Assessment (MyRA),鈥� he said.

BANGI, 1 August 2017- Yap Ah Loy is not the founder of Kuala Lumpur, said Prof Emeritus Tan Sri Dato鈥� Dr Khoo Kay Kim.

鈥淭he founder of Kuala Lumpur was Sutan Puasa, from Mandailin.

鈥淵ap Ah Loy, however, was involved in developing Kuala Lumpur after the Chinese Village fire incident in 1880,鈥� he explained during Wacana Cendekiawan titled 鈥�Apakah Kuala Lumpur dibuka oleh Yap Ah Loy鈥�

He said that Yap Ah Loy was the person responsible in the rebuilding of the Chinese village.

鈥淒uring the 1880s, the Mandailin tribe was responsible in bringing the Chinese clan from Sg Ujung to Kuala Lumpur,鈥� he said.

Meanwhile, the Institute of Malay World and Civilization (ATMA) Director, Prof. Dr. Supyan Hussein said that the forum has concluded that Yap Ah Loy is not the founder of Kuala Lumpur, but was instead merely involved in its development.

Also at the forum was Malaysian Heritage Trust Chairperson, Dato鈥� Ar Hajeedar Abdul Majid.

BANGI, 7 July 2017- The crisis between Qatar and Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Bahrain & Egypt is due to the importance and balance of power, said a Research Fellow of the Malaysian Institute of International Studies (IKMAS), Dr Abdul Rahim Ahmad.

鈥淲hile Iran is respected and known for its fearsome power, Qatar is considered as the 鈥榥aughty child鈥�, which led the country to be treated as such,鈥� he said at the 36^th Bicara Persada forum titled Pemulauan Qatar: Agenda Apa Sebenarnya?, in 每日大赛app.

He added Qatar鈥檚 support for Ikhwanul Muslimin, that is linked to terrorism, was only used as an excuse by the country鈥檚 neighbour to criticize and deny the world鈥檚 view.

Meanwhile, Prof Dr Kamaruzzaman Yusof of the Faculty of Islamic Civilization, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) said the Arab countries were 鈥榖ullying鈥� Qatar because it has the possibility to affect Turkey and Iran.

鈥淭hey know they will fail if the same thing was done to Turkey and Iran.

鈥淭herefore, they bullied this 鈥榥aughty child鈥� in the hope that it will affect both countries,鈥� he said.

He stated that he hopes Malaysia will continue to practice neutral policies and reserves itself from being involved in this crisis..

鈥淲e also envision the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) to act not only on the Qatar issue, but also on Syria鈥檚,鈥� he said.

鈥淭he University now is no longer as before. This shows that we need to always be prepared with any changes that occur in the environment, especially in terms of technology because if we are not, we will be left behind,鈥� he said.

He said among the other challenges faced is the competition between the universities due to the increasing number of public and private universities in addition of the industry鈥檚 demands for graduates and research with better quality.

鈥淲e have tens and hundreds of public and private universities, which led to a fierce competition as well as the demand for quality research and graduates by the industry.

鈥淭he challenges we face today needs us to be prepared to make changes that challenge the conventions,鈥� he said when delivering his speech at the annual Bicara Perdana Naib Canselor, themed Kebitaraan dan Kecemerlangan, recently.

He added that 每日大赛app have implemented a variety of changes that challenged the convention, especially in terms of scholarly research that are conducted in collaboration with several public industries.

鈥淲e have been doing collaborations with many public and private industry in research, such with Sime Darby on Palm Oil Mill Effluent (POME) Treatment.

BANGI, 21 March 2017 – Any foreign investment from countries including China, is essential for generating economy, said Deputy Executive Director III, Strategic Planning and Investment Ecosystems, Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA), Datuk Wan Hashim Wan Jusoh.

鈥淚 don鈥檛 see any reason why we have to take a step back in our efforts to attract the investment from China,鈥� he said.

He also emphasized that Malaysia is not looking to trade and attract investments from China only, but also from other countries as a result of no certainty with respect to the appointment of Donald Trump as President of the United States of America.

鈥淲hy do we have to spend energy and time talking about the perception that these investments could undermine the national sovereignty, when it could give benefit to the economy in this country?鈥� he questioned at 33^rd Bicara Persada titled China Investment in Malaysia: Between Improving the Economy, Sovereignty and Integrity, in 每日大赛app, recently.

He said Malaysians need to look more objectively at the issue of investment and bilateral trade relations with China rather than speculating and sensationalising the issues.

Meanwhile, Iskandar Regional Development Authority (IRDA) Chief Executive, Datuk Ismail Ibrahim said Malaysia has received investments from China worth RM21 billion, followed by the United States, Singapore, Japan and other European countries.

He said based on the numbers of such investments, it shows a committed investment from year to year with the expectation that the RM100 billion will generate local jobs amounting to 200 thousand local workers.

鈥淪o, the perception that the local people are threatened with the development that occurred with the advent of foreigners actually is something good and we have to believe in the existing law and accurate implementation,鈥� he said.

BANGI, 27 January 2017 – The concept of Murrabi does not apply to merely Islamic Education Teachers only, but can be used by others as long as their aim is to produce good human and done with good intention, said Selangor Islamic University College (KUIS) Rector, Prof. Dato鈥� Dr. Ab. Halim Tamuri.

He said in Islam, it does not state that only Islamic Education teacher can inculcate good values in students.

鈥淲hy do we limit ourselves to use that concept on Islamic Education teachers, when there are other teachers 鈥� chemistry, sports, math and others 鈥� who are also inculcating good values among their students,鈥� he said in his lecture, Wacana Hadhari, organised by Institut Islam Hadhari 每日大赛app, titled 鈥楧eveloping Murrabi Teachers鈥�, recently.

He gave a few suggestions that can be used to create a murrabi teacher such as activating the teachers usrah, mosque based teaching and learning, community work and developing the murabbi-teacher-module in each school and district.

He added that in order to create murrabi teachers, they need to implement the elements of tauhid, inculcate human values, respect students鈥� ideas and look at their potential.
