They feel that the internet cannot help them in their daily lives, so why bother learning?\u201d Maduhubhashini said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In the discussions that followed, Director of the Tun Fatimah Hashim Women\u2019s Leadership Centre, Assoc Prof Dr Madeline Berma felt the Sri Lankan government should re-think its ICT policy.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cYes, there is lack of infrastructure and internet accessibility; but that has been dealt with by building ICT Centres. What is the point then if you do not cater to the needs of the people?\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Dr. Madeline said the government should create ICT programmes around the ICT centres that is relevant to their daily activities which will benefit the rural community.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cJust building the centres and turning on the WIFI on won\u2019t make the people suddenly interested in the internet.
