每日大赛app Global Webinar Series: The Internationalization Experience of Higher Education Institutions in Japan and Malaysia<\/h2>\n

The webinar aims at exploring the internationalization experiences of international higher education institutions in Malaysia and Japan. The focus of the discussion will be on the sharing of collaborations and partnerships, the strategies of being a global university and dealing with challenges of the new norm, and moving forward with new initiatives in empowering universities of the future. Both countries have had long-standing relationships and ventured into many collaboratives such as student and staff mobility, dual degree programs, international students\u2019 recruitment, joint research, and publications, etc. This webinar will benefit participants through understanding the strategies, successful stories, and struggles of international higher education.<\/p>\n

<\/td>\nAssociate Professor Dr. Abdul Latiff Ahmad<\/strong> is the Director of International Relations Centre (每日大赛app Global), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (每日大赛app). He is also a Senior Lecturer at the Centre for Research in Media and Communication, Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities. He obtained his bachelor\u2019s degree in Politics and International Relations from The University of Kent, United Kingdom and his master\u2019s degree from Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Shah Alam, Malaysia. In 2013, he obtained his PhD in Communication Studies from University of Queensland, Australia. He is currently the Malaysian Regional Vice President for the World Communication Association (WCA) and also a Committee member of the National Strategic Communication Committee under the Higher Education Department, Ministry of Education. He is also a Fulbright Alumni. His research interests include intercultural communication and internationalization. He actively participates as a guest speaker, moderator and panelist in international forums and conferences, especially in the fields of student mobility and internationalization.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

<\/td>\nProfessor Caroline F. Benton<\/strong> was appointed Vice President of Global Affairs in 2013 and Executive Director of the University of Tsukuba in 2015, after serving as chair of the university\u2019s MBA Program in International Business. Her responsibilities include building global partnerships in research and education and promoting the internationalization of the internal environment of the university.\n

She is also Director General of the university\u2019s Bureau of Global Initiatives and serves on various committees including the Japanese Association of National Universities\u2019 International Exchange Committee as an expert member, the International Olympic Committee\u2019s Education Commission, and the Research Organization for Information and Systems Education and Research Council. She is also currently co-head of US-Japan Higher Education Engagement Advisory Board for Japan Association of National Universities and the American Council on Education.<\/p>\n

Her research interests lie in knowledge management, global leadership, and subjective well-being; her research projects include a 12-country study on the learning mechanism of global leadership competencies, a comparative study on global-mindedness in youth, and most recently a Japanese government-funded study on well-being and happiness in corporations.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

<\/td>\nBorn in Kuala Pilah, Negeri Sembilan in 1968, Professor Dr. Mohammad Kassim<\/strong> received his B. Sc. (Hons.) in Chemistry with Energy & Fuel Science in 1993 from the Lakehead University, Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada and Master of Science (Chemistry) in 1996 from the Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. He was conferred a PhD (Inorganic & Coordination Chemistry) by the University of Bristol, United Kingdom in 2003.\n

Professor Mohammad started his academic career at the Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia in 1994 as a tutor at the Chemistry Department before becoming a lecturer in 1996 at the School of Chemical Sciences & Food Technology, Faculty of Science and Technology. He was promoted to an Associate Professor in 2008 and a Professor in 2014, at the age of 46 and currently he is a faculty at the Department of Chemical Sciences, Faculty of Science and Technology.<\/p>\n

He has shown exemplary leadership qualities during his tenure as the Deputy Executive Director of Pro-Vice Chancellor, Strategy Office (2014-2017) where he was in charge of the Research, Strategic Partnership & Fund Generation affairs. Subsequently, he served as the Dean of Faculty of Science and Technology (2017-2021). Currently, he serves as a Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic & International) (2021). He has been previously appointed as a Visiting Professor at University of Tsukuba (2019), Specially Appointed Professor at Osaka University (2018), Visiting Professor at Gifu University (2017), and Visiting Researcher at the University of Sheffield (2011).<\/p>\n

He specialised in X-ray crystallography, coordination chemistry; molecular electronics, photo-electrochemistry, and conversion & utilization of CO2. Currently, he is the founder and leader for Solar Hydrogen Research Group.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

<\/td>\nProfessor Yasuyuki Kono<\/strong>\u00a0is Vice President for international strategy and Professor of Center for Southeast Asian Studies (CSEAS), Kyoto University. He obtained Doctor of Agriculture at the University of Tokyo in 1986 and joined CSEAS in 1987. He has served as Director, CSEAS, during the period from 2014 to 2018. He also worked at the Irrigation Engineering and Management Program, Asian Institute of Technology, during the period from 1992 to 1994 as Assistant Professor. As the Vice President for international strategy, he is in charge of promoting and coordinating international research and education activities. These include overseas centers at Europe, ASEAN and North America, strategic partnership, on-site laboratories and student mobility programs. His research fields are natural resources management, rural livelihood studies, and human-nature interactions in Southeast Asia. Recently he, together with his multi-disciplinary colleagues, explores a new research field, \u201csustainable humanosphere studies\u201d, which aims at embedding nature and environment in the dialogue of science and society. He is currently the head of a large-scale international program, Japan-ASEAN Science, Technology and Innovation Platform (JASTIP), in which he promotes interdisciplinary studies and transdisciplinary activities with colleagues in ASEAN countries. Major publications are Agency, opportunity and risk: Commercialization and the human-nature relationships in Laos (2009), Mechanisms of land use change in Mainland Southeast Asia (2010) and Rural Northeast Thailand in Transition: Recent Changes and Their Implications for the Long-term Transformation of the Region (2017).<\/em><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

<\/td>\nProfessor Dato' Dr. Narimah Samat<\/strong> started her career as a lecturer at Universiti Sains Malaysia in Oct 1995. But, She went to pursue PhD, funded by Association of Commonwealth University, in University of Leeds from 1999 to 2002. Since then, she has continuously working on various GIS projects. Her main research interest is in the application of GIS and urban land use modelling. She has completed more than 45 research projects related to GIS and it applications in various fields particularly in Urban Land Use Modelling, GIS and Social Issues Analysis. Her current research on land use\/cover changes and its impact on water resources and urban development and its impact on peri-urban agricultural activities. From those projects, she has published more than 50 articles in international journals and 4 research books. Narimah was selected as a ASEAN Science Fellow by Global Youth Academy in 2016. She was a visiting research fellow at Universiti Brunei Darussalam from January \u2013 June 2014 and Herriot-Watt University, Edinburgh in Dec 2017. She is now a professional member of the Institution of Geospatial and Remote Sensing Malaysia and Malaysia Geographical Association of Malaysia. At present, she is a Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic and International), Universiti Sains Malaysia.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n
