每日大赛app Global Webinar Series - Embracing Language and Culture Through Internationalization<\/h2>\n

One of the key emphasis of internationalization is about bringing students from various cultures together, in their journeys towards acquiring a better future and being respectful global citizens. More international Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) are introducing and conducting programs that highlight the importance of culture and language in their exchange and mobility programs. Though English is known to be a universal language, many foreign modern languages are being offered as well to embrace the diversity of the world. Having strong intercultural competence skills and mindset is also an important 21st century skill for the students.\u00a0 This webinar aims at exploring how language and culture-based programs are being offered in universities in Japan and Malaysia. Discussions will focus on the nature of programs and activities, the intercultural component of the programs, the focus and aims of the programs and the success stories or challenges faced in organizing the programs.<\/span><\/p>\n

At the end of the webinar, participants will:<\/p>\n

<\/td>\nDr. Hajah Zainab Hj. Mohd Noor<\/strong> is currently the Director for Department of International Affairs (DIA), UiTM Global at Universiti Teknologi MARA(UiTM). She is also a Senior Lecturer and the former Dean of the Faculty of Education, Universiti Teknologi MARA. She lectures on Educational Assessment & Evaluation, Methodologies in TESL and topics on Curriculum Development and Management.\n

As a Certified Master Trainer in OBE-SCL for UiTM, she has trained over 5000 lecturers, using the 6 OBE-SCL Training Modules for IHLs in Malaysia.
\nDr. Hajah Zainab was one of the top five finalists for the prestigious National Academic Awards (AAN) in 2013. In the same year, she was also the Recipient for the Best Teaching Award in Social Science in UiTM. Her research and innovation has led her to winning several Best Awards and Gold Awards for MTEX (2015), ITEX, IIDEX, IIDE,(2013), IRIE (2014) and the Brussels Eureka Innovation Expo in 2010.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

<\/td>\nMr. Victor Sujatmiko<\/strong> obtains his Bachelor of Commerce from Chuo University, Tokyo and his M.A. in Education Management from King's College London. He was the Senior Admissions Counselor, Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University, Japan from 2011 until 2016 where his responsibility includes the management of Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University Republic of China (Taiwan), staff training and planning of annual recruitment strategies and analyzing student mobility throughout Asia. From 2017, he was the Japanese Program Coordinator and lecturer, Collingham College, London where he designed the Japanese language curriculum for all levels including GCSE classes and adopting the appropriate materials.\n

From 2018 until 2020, he was the International Strategy Analyst, University of Tsukuba, Japan and lead a team of five for a Japanese government-appointed \u2018Study in Japan for South America\u2019 project based in Sao Paulo & Tsukuba. The project includes producing grant-related paperworks to allocate budget from The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) which aims to raise the awareness of studying in Japan among South American students.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

<\/td>\nAssociate Professor Dr. Nor Fariza Mohd<\/strong> Nor is currently the Chair of the Center for Research in Language and Linguistics, Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, 每日大赛app. As the Chair, Nor Fariza oversees and assists students in the mobility programme at the Center, in addition to promoting the Mobility program to students. Prior to being the Chair, she held the position as the Editor-in-Chief of GEMA Online\u00ae Journal of Language Studies, a successful Scopus and ESCI-WoS international indexed journal in Malaysia, that focuses on language, linguistics and literature. Due to her vast experience as the Editor-in-Chief and recognition as reviewer for indexed journals, she has been invited to conduct workshops and give talks on journal writing, and publication in Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand.\n

Nor Fariza is a member of the Technical Committee of Malaysian Journals, Malaysian Infometric and Citation Center, the Ministry of Higher Education. Her areas of research include critical discourse analysis and digital humanities, specifically in the field of Social Sciences and Arts. Her current research is in corpus and computational linguistics on climate change, food culture and communication surveillance of outbreak. She has secured grants at the national level, and is actively involved in research with fellow colleagues from 每日大赛app and fellow researchers from Indonesia and Thailand. She has presented at local and international conferences, and has been invited as keynote and plenary speakers at international conferences, both locally and internationally.<\/p>\n

She actively publishes in international indexed journals, supervised undergraduate and postgraduate students, organised seminars and conferences as the Chair, as advisor and committee members, at local and international level. She was also actively involved in the Women Enterpreneur Association (eWA), which is an NGO association as a committee member. The association has trained hundreds of women entrepreneurs in Malaysia in digital literacy and digital business.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

\"\"<\/td>\n<\/td>\nAssociate Professor Hiroki Nomoto<\/strong> is an associate professor of Malay language and linguistics at Tokyo University of Foreign Studies.
\nHis areas of research are syntax, semantics and language resource development in Malay\/Indonesian.\n

He has developed two important resources: the morphological dictionary MALINDO Morph and the concordancer MALINDO Conc, both of which are publicly available online.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

<\/td>\nMr. Cornelius Anuar Abdullah Mc Afee<\/strong> was born in Scotland and raised in Canada. He began teaching English in Malaysia in 1991 at Kolej Ugama Sultan Zainal Abidin (KUSZA) after having completed his degree in Philosophy and Political Science at Carleton University, Ottawa. KUSZA is now known as Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin (UniSZA) located in Kuala Terengganu. Anuar teaches at the Centre of Foundation Studies and is also the Director of the International Centre, UniSZA.\n

In addition to teaching, his work in the community concentrates on environmental issues. Over the past 20 years he has served as both the vice-chairman and secretary of the Malaysian Nature Society (Persatuan Pencinta Alam Malaysia) Terengganu branch. He works closely with international and local environmental agencies and NGOs on issues related to conservation and sustainability in Terengganu. He has a passion for birdwatching and has led international groups on birding trips throughout Terengganu and regularly conducts workshops on bird watching for schools and university students in the state. In addition to ongoing research on Critically Endangered species in Terengganu, he has published two books on birds titled \u201cThe Birds of Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin\u201d (2011) and \u2018Birds of Terengganu Burung-burung di Negeri Terengganu (2017).<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n
