Graduated 2018.<\/p>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<div class=\"sow-tabs-panel\">\n\t\t\t<div\n\t\t\t\tclass=\"sow-tabs-panel-content\"\n\t\t\t\trole=\"tabpanel\"\n\t\t\t\taria-hidden=\"true\"\n\t\t\t>\n\t\t\t\t<p>My research interests focus in two areas: (i) advanced energy materials and (ii) process system engineering related to biomass, fuel cell and hydrogen technologies.<\/p>\n<p>The key factor to unleash the potential of renewable energy is to address its intermittent characteristics and to solve the issues related to storage, distribution and transportation of energy. One promising solution is to convert the energy into hydrogen. While the cleanest hydrogen production is via electrolysis, the cost of hydrogen is still high. One of my researches is to develop <strong>catalysts<\/strong> that are used to produce hydrogen from renewable hydrocarbon sources particularly from biogas\/biomass. Nevertheless, the biohydrogen produced from these sources usually required further separation and purification. My research in <strong>metal hydrides<\/strong> is a promising method to separate, store and purify in a one-pot system. The advantage of metal hydrides is their capability to absorb a large amount of hydrogen specifically (more than three times the volume of hydrogen that is stored at 800 bar and room temperature) in a solid-state form at reasonable conditions. Recently, I am collaborating with Nuclear Malaysia and a Japanese research institution to develop catalysts with <strong>irradiation<\/strong> technology. Ion and\/or electron beam irradiation is capable to introduce dopants, create defects and reduce oxygen of materials in a timely manner by controlling the irradiation time and free radicals.
