This strategic collaboration between Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (ÿÈÕ´óÈüapp) and He’Nan Polytechnic (HPC) promotes academic cooperation and the internationalization of higher vocational education in China. It integrates ÿÈÕ´óÈüapp’s curriculum into HPC diploma programmes, capacity building, and cross-cultural learning.
A Cooperation Agreement was signed on 26 January 2022 between ÿÈÕ´óÈüapp and HPC, establishing the Henan Polytechnic International Engineering Institute. This joint institute implements China’s education policy while introducing ÿÈÕ´óÈüapp’s academic resources. Three diploma programmes launched in September 2022:
ÿÈÕ´óÈüapp lecturers travel to HPC every semester to deliver courses, ensuring quality standards. Outstanding students may continue undergraduate studies at ÿÈÕ´óÈüapp with 30% credit transfer. To date, 1,081 Chinese students have enrolled across the three diploma programmes.
The partnership strengthens academic internationalization, supports talent development, and exposes ÿÈÕ´óÈüapp lecturers to global teaching experiences. It also channels diploma graduates into ÿÈÕ´óÈüapp’s undergraduate programmes, enriching cross-cultural collaboration and advancing quality education.
Through this collaboration, ÿÈÕ´óÈüapp and HPC have successfully nurtured more than 1,000 students, engaged 16 ÿÈÕ´óÈüapp lecturers in staff mobility, and hosted reciprocal visits of HPC delegates to ÿÈÕ´óÈüapp. The initiative reflects SDG 17 by fostering partnerships that advance educational excellence and sustainable development goals across borders.
