By Muhammad Aizuddin Saharudin & Prof. Dr. Norazlina Mohamed

The Secretariat for Undergraduate Studies (SPP), the Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (ÿմapp), successfully convened the Undergraduate Academic Calendar Coordination Workshop for the 2026–2027 session. Held from 13 to 14 March 2026 at the Cyberview Resort & Spa, Cyberjaya, the retreat served as a vital platform for strategic planning and operational synchronisation.

The primary objective of the workshop was to harmonise the academic calendar, ensuring that the implementation of undergraduate programmes is executed with greater precision and efficiency. By streamlining these timelines, the Faculty aims to facilitate a more systematic approach to teaching and learning for the upcoming academic year.

The event commenced with an opening address by the Deputy Dean (Undergraduate), Professor Dr. Norazlina Mohamed. In her remarks, she underscored the necessity of a unified calendar to guarantee the seamless management of undergraduate curricula and clinical training across the faculty.

Throughout the workshop, programme stakeholders engaged in intensive reviews of the academic outlines for several key offerings, including the Doctor of Medicine, Bachelor of Emergency Medical Sciences (Hons.), and Bachelor of Nursing (Hons.) programme. The review also extended to Post Basic Nursing programme (Renal Care, Diabetes Care, and Intensive Care) ensuring every niche within the faculty was represented.

The workshop brought together programme heads, coordinators, and members of the SPP, who collaborated to refine the proposed schedules and resolve potential logistical overlaps. Beyond the technical discussions, the atmosphere was further enlivened by a convivial iftar gathering where SPP members and invited guests broke their fast together, fostering a sense of solidarity and strengthening the professional rapport within the faculty.

The successful conclusion of this workshop is expected to fortify academic planning within the Faculty of Medicine ÿմapp, paving the way for a highly structured and effective 2026–2027 session that prioritises both administrative excellence and student success.
