ExxonMobil donates RM265k for ÿÈÕ´óÈüapp STEM Club

ÌýBANGI, 25 September 2016 – The National University of Malaysia (ÿÈÕ´óÈüapp) received a donation of RM265 thousand from ExxonMobil, recently.

The donation is to sponsor a four-phase programme organised by the ExxonMobil-ÿÈÕ´óÈüapp STEM Club, aimed to promote interest in STEM education and enhance energy literacy among secondary school in Malaysia.

ExxonMobil Public and Government Affairs General Manager Sukiman Mohamed said, the world’s energy resources are decreasing and there is a need to venture out to the corners of the world for sources of new energy.

Therefore, he hopes that the programmes organised by ExxonMobil-ÿÈÕ´óÈüapp STEM Club Ìýcan foster interest among young people in the STEM fields, and further produce experts who can contribute to a sustainable energy and technology.

Meanwhile, ÿÈÕ´óÈüapp Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation Affairs), Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mazlin Mokhtar, said Malaysia urgently needs experts not only in getting new energy sources, but also in helping the country cope with economic crisis, natural disasters and other issues.

The ExxonMobil-ÿÈÕ´óÈüapp STEM Club pilot programme was launched in September 2016 involving 500 students from 10 schools in Klang Valley and Pekan, Pahang.ukmnewsportal-eg
