TUMPAT, KELANTAN, 1 January 2015 – The National University of Malaysia (ÿÈÕ´óÈüapp) today presented food relief aids to two schools here in brief but emotional ceremonies.

The Tumpat National Secondary and the Tumpat National Primary Schools had endeared themselves to ÿÈÕ´óÈüapp when they contributed money to the campaign to set up the university in the late 1960s.

The relief aids were presented by a ÿÈÕ´óÈüapp Flood Relief Mission headed by Deputy Registrar Haji Abd Razak Hussin to the Principal of the secondary school Haji Wan Mamat, a graduate of ÿÈÕ´óÈüapp in Applied Physics in 1983 and the headmaster of the primary school Hj Samsudin bin Haji Mohd Yusoff.

ÿÈÕ´óÈüapp Red Crescent honorary secretary Haji Zainuddin Daud and 20 relief mission officers of ÿÈÕ´óÈüapp attended the functions together with the Tumpat District Education officer Khairuddin Mohamed.

Members of the ÿÈÕ´óÈüapp mission also visited homes of the teachers devastated by the catastrophic floods and offered donations from the university’s Zakat.

The secondary school had in the 1960s chipped in RM5.50 and the primary school RM 3.50 to the ÿÈÕ´óÈüapp fund.

Abd Razak said though the donations then may be small in today’s terms but the gesture gave hope to the management of ÿÈÕ´óÈüapp in providing excellent education.

He said the Tumpat community has always been close to the heart of ÿÈÕ´óÈüapp. The floods have prompted ÿÈÕ´óÈüapp staff and students to come to their aid.
