1. ÿÈÕ´óÈüapp Sustainability Policy 2030

ÿÈÕ´óÈüapp has published the ÿÈÕ´óÈüapp Sustainability Policy and the ÿÈÕ´óÈüapp 2030 Sustainability Strategic Plan. In this plan, ÿÈÕ´óÈüapp has a sustainability policy regarding ÿÈÕ´óÈüapp’s commitment to 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

In continuation with that, ÿÈÕ´óÈüapp has developed the ÿÈÕ´óÈüapp 2030 Sustainability Strategic Plan as a guideline for action plans and initiatives to achieve sustainable development goals. ÿÈÕ´óÈüapp is committed to achieving the goals under SDG 13, ÿÈÕ´óÈüapp is committed to realizing the Zero Carbon Campus 2050 through efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, adaptation strategies, and climate research for a sustainable university future. In page 87, ÿÈÕ´óÈüapp has outlined an action plan towards a low carbon campus such as empowering waste management on campus, using low carbon energy appliances, diversifying alternative water sources, increasing the use of zero emission vehicles and increasing awareness campaigns on the importance of protecting the environment.

Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (ÿÈÕ´óÈüapp) is committed to promoting sustainability through responsible and ethical procurement practices. The ÿÈÕ´óÈüapp Green Procurement Guidelines serve as a framework to ensure that all procurement activities align with environmental, social, and economic sustainability principles.

By integrating green procurement into ÿÈÕ´óÈüapp’s purchasing decisions, the university aims to minimize environmental impact, support eco-friendly products and services, and encourage sustainable practices among suppliers and stakeholders. These guidelines align with national policies and international best practices, including the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 12: Responsible Consumption and Production.

The ÿÈÕ´óÈüapp Financial Guidelines serve as a comprehensive framework to ensure effective, transparent, and accountable financial management at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (ÿÈÕ´óÈüapp). These guidelines provide clear policies and procedures for financial planning, budgeting, procurement, expenditure, and financial reporting, aligning with national regulations and best governance practices.

As a leading institution, ÿÈÕ´óÈüapp is committed to upholding integrity, efficiency, and sustainability in its financial operations. The ÿÈÕ´óÈüapp Financial Guidelines help stakeholders—including administrators, faculty members, and staff—make informed financial decisions that support the university’s strategic goals while maintaining compliance with financial regulations.

By adhering to these guidelines, ÿÈÕ´óÈüapp strengthens its financial governance, promotes responsible resource management, and ensures long-term financial sustainability. This document serves as a key reference for all financial matters within the university, fostering a culture of accountability and excellence in financial administration.

Under section 12 , page 61 – 66, the ÿÈÕ´óÈüapp Investment Guidelines outline policies for managing the Endowment Fund and Long-Term Investment Fund, collectively known as Investment Funds. These guidelines serve as a basis for decision-making and approval in accordance with ÿÈÕ´óÈüapp’s financial policies and regulations.

The authority to manage investments is given to the University Board of Directors, the Investment Committee, and the Executive Director of Finance.

University Board of Directors approves the Investment Policy and investment proposals.

Investment Committee reviews and recommends investment proposals to the Board.

Investment Committee members include the Board of Directors’ members, Vice-Chancellor, finance and risk officers, and a professional representative. These guidelines ensure proper governance and compliance in ÿÈÕ´óÈüapp’s investment activities.

6. ÿÈÕ´óÈüapp Inclusive Policy For Persons With Disabilities (OKU)

The ÿÈÕ´óÈüapp Inclusive Policy for Persons with Disabilities (OKU) was approved in University Management Meeting No. 5/2019 to be implemented progressively based on suitability and current needs. ÿÈÕ´óÈüapp is committed to ensuring that students, staff, and visitors with disabilities have full access to education, work environments, and campus life that is inclusive and free from barriers and discrimination.

  1. Administration – Managing student, staff, and visitor affairs, including establishing the OKU Services & Support Unit (UPSOKU), appointing OKU liaison officers, introducing flexible university regulations, and financial planning.
  2. Accessibility, Accommodation & Funding – Ensuring easy access to buildings, infrastructure, and services through access audits and development plans for OKU-friendly facilities.
  3. Support Services – Providing inclusive learning and employment support, including one-on-one case management, emotional and psychological support, career development programs, and individualized career support.
  4. Protection – Safeguarding against discrimination, harassment, and threats by reviewing admission criteria, ensuring discrimination-free environments, offering online complaint systems, and setting safety SOPs for OKU.
  5. OKU Awareness Culture – Creating an inclusive campus community with disability equality training, integration programs, webinars, annual OKU Day celebrations, recognition of achievements, and media engagement.

The ÿÈÕ´óÈüapp Anti-Corruption Policy serves as a framework to prevent, detect, and address corruption, bribery, and misconduct within the university. This policy aligns with Malaysia’s anti-corruption laws and regulations, including the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Act 2009, and international best practices in governance and ethical conduct.

By implementing this policy, ÿÈÕ´óÈüapp aims to cultivate a zero-tolerance culture against corruption, promote ethical decision-making, and reinforce compliance with integrity standards among students, staff, and stakeholders. 8. ÿÈÕ´óÈüapp Energy Management & Efficiency Policy and Guideline

The Energy Management and Efficiency Policy of Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (ÿÈÕ´óÈüapp) is designed to promote a culture of efficient energy management through sustainable practices in daily life, services and development. This policy aligns with ÿÈÕ´óÈüapp’s Sustainability Policy 2030, the ÿÈÕ´óÈüapp Sustainability Strategic Plan 2030 and the university’s long-term goal of achieving Net Zero Carbon Emissions by 2050. Through this initiative, ÿÈÕ´óÈüapp aims to integrate sustainable energy management into its operations, ensuring continuous improvement in energy efficiency while reducing its carbon footprint.

To achieve these objectives, ÿÈÕ´óÈüapp is committed to implementing a sustainable energy management system that encompasses energy efficiency, conservation and the adoption of renewable energy sources. The university also ensures full compliance with all relevant laws, policies and guidelines related to energy management, reinforcing its dedication to sustainability. Additionally, ÿÈÕ´óÈüapp prioritizes awareness and education, providing training and engagement opportunities to its community to encourage responsible energy consumption.

The Energy Management Guidelines provide a structured framework for executing and reinforcing the ÿÈÕ´óÈüapp Energy Policy. These guidelines apply to all responsible departments (PTj) within the university that oversee energy management planning, coordination, monitoring and implementation. The policy is also aligned with international best practices, including ISO 50001:2018 (Energy Management System – EnMS) and the Energy Management Gold Standard (EMGS).

By adopting this policy, ÿÈÕ´óÈüapp demonstrates its strong commitment to sustainable energy management in higher education, setting a benchmark for environmental responsibility and supporting global sustainability efforts. Through continuous improvements and active participation from its community, ÿÈÕ´óÈüapp aims to lead by example in fostering a more energy-efficient and environmentally responsible future.

Registered Energy Manager (REM)

In Malaysia, Registered Energy Manager play an important role in supporting national energy efficiency initiatives and sustainable energy management. This role helps ensure that campus facilities operate efficiently while advancing the university’s green campus and sustainability goals. ÿÈÕ´óÈüapp has established the strategic role of a Registered Energy Manager to oversee efficient energy consumption, ensuring it remains well-regulated and aligned with the university’s sustainability policies and legal compliance requirements.

Assoc. Prof. Ir. Ts. Dr. Afida Ayob has been appointed as the Registered Energy Manager (REM) at the Pusat Pengurusan Penjanaan ÿÈÕ´óÈüapp (JANA@ÿÈÕ´óÈüapp). A REM is a certified professional responsible for managing, monitoring, and improving energy efficiency within an organization.
